If you've been directed to the Access Request page, a third-party (non-Google) website is requesting access to one of your Google products. For example, you may be using a web application that can sync with data from your Google Calendar. By granting this request, you're giving the third-party site limited access to data from the Google product.
The third-party site and the Google product are both identified on the Access Request page. You should grant access only if you trust the site that's displayed there. The data and activities available to the third-party site depend on the Google product; the site may not be able to add or modify data, or it may be able to see only a small portion of data. For more information, please check the help content for each product.
Note: The third-party site can't access your Google Account password.
If you grant access to a third-party site and later want to disable it, just follow these steps:
  1. Sign in on the Google Accounts homepage.
  2. Click the My Account link displayed at the top right of the page.

How to import a BlogSpot blog into WordPress Part-1

If you have a blog at blogspot.com and decide to switch your hosting to wordpress.com or a self-hosted WordPress blog you can import all the posts, images and comments by using the WordPress Import feature. The automated process also has import functions for LiveJournal, Posterous, Splinder, Israblog, Movable Type and TypePad, Yahoo!360°, Blogli, Vox.com, Tumblr, or another WordPress blog hosted elsewhere.
I’ve used this process for Blogger but not the others. Although all the posts and comments get transferred, widgets in the sidebar are ignored. You would have to re-create those from scratch. Blogger ‘Labels’ are preserved as WordPress ‘Categories’.
To start the process go to the WordPress admin area and choose
Tools > Import. Then choose which blogging system you want to import from.
Please note: To use the importer with Blogger you must have a Google account and an upgraded blog. If you have an old-style Classic template you will need to switch to the new Blogger system (screenshot). The blog must be hosted on BlogSpot, not externally via FTP.
Step 1 – Authorize the transfer:
It would be helpful to login to your Google Account before you begin the import process. Then you can simply click the “Grant access” button and continue.

Step 2 – Select a blog to import:
If you have more than one blog attached to a single Blogger account all of them will be listed with an “Import” button for each blog. The example below shows just one.

Step 3 – Author mapping:
On Blogger you have one username, and on WordPress another username. The author mapping process allows you to establish an association between the two usernames.

Once these 3 steps have been completed the import proceeds automatically.

An experience of importing 2000+ posts

I was contacted by Kenny Smith, who wanted to replace a pre-Blogger-in-Beta blog on his self-hosted site. He sent a write-up of his experience:
“My Blogger blog was on an FTP-hosted site, so the first step was to temporarily convert that to Blogspot. That was easy to do inside the Blogger platform. I had more than 2,000 posts to move over to WordPress which was a problem because Blogger is capping the export at 500 posts now. Trial, error and Google searches taught me that I could export the whole thing to a WordPress hosted blog. So I simply created a MYURL.wordpress.com and exported everything from MYURL.blogspot.com – This was effortless.
The next problem, though, came when I tried to export to a hosted www.myurl.com/wordpress/ site. The step is to save the data from the myurl.wordpress.com site on your machine as an XML file. This is easily done within the WordPress platform. The problem was in trying to export that from desktop to www.myurl.com/wordpress/ After two days in tech support conversations with the WordPress folks (who were VERY helpful) we decided that my ISP was timing me out. So what I would see after trying to export 2,000 posts would be 1,734 or 1,722 or 1,755. This got frustrating quickly. Especially while deleting them all, 15 posts at a time.
The answer is a fairly simple one… … Take that XML file and segregate the data, perhaps by months or years if you’re dealing with thousands of posts, into several XML files to prevent the time out. WordPress’ tech people helped me break mine down into three XML files instead of the one I’d been trying and it all uploaded on the first attempt thereafter.
And now, the only really problem I have is an issue of the dates. Everything is written like it took place one day later than it really did. However, I seem to have 2,053 posts on the wordpress site, and I was trying to import 2,055. 99.9 percent is a nice success rate thanks to this extra step in the workaround and a little help from Nick at WordPress.”

Why switch to WordPress.com?

On another site there’s a table which summarizes the features of the two systems: WordPress vs. BlogSpot.
Advantages:
  • Quite a few BlogSpot features added after 2006 depend on JavaScript. They won’t show up in older types of mobile device or browsers in which JavaScript is disabled. Google services rely heavily on client-side scripts which add significantly to download times. Outside towns and cities in America, Europe, and wealthy countries in South East Asia, broadband penetration has been minimal. Elsewhere, it’s confined to major cities (ditto for mobile broadband coverage). A 2007 article in PC World magazine noted that Rural America is doomed to Dial-Up. It looks like Google only cares about catering to city slickers in prosperous nations.
  • Photo bloggers get a better deal with WordPress.com. In individual posts you can add a photo gallery with a single tag. You can also use a Photoblogger Theme. There are several to choose from.
  • There’s always the risk that Google may require users to set up a Google+ account (real names mandatory) in order to continue using the Blogger service.
Disadvantages:
  • I got fed up with a constant stream of spam comments for deletion in my WordPress dashboard. Especially as there were very few genuine comments for moderation. It’s true that if you ignore the Akismet spam queue they’ll be deleted automatically after a while, but it’s difficult to ignore them as a few might have been falsely tagged as spam.
  • Blogger makes it easy to change fonts and colors in every theme. None of them are restricted to a limited set of options.
  • It has been said elsewhere, but the dashboard Blog Stats don’t really compare to free third-party tracker scripts such as StatCounter and Google Analytics. The graph looks nice, but it’s done with a script so you can’t right-click to save it.

How Your Tongue Works

by Sarah Dowdey

2007 HowStuffWorks

The Tongue and Taste

While the tongue's muscles guidefood between the teeth and shape it so that it's digestible, the peripheral sense organ is perhaps better known for its role in the perception of taste. The tongue not only detects gustatory (taste) sensations, but also helps sense the tactile, thermal and even painful stimuli that give food its flavor.
Most people mistake the bumpy structures that cover the tongue's surface for taste buds. These are actually papillae: goblet-shaped elevations that sometimes contain taste buds and help create friction between the tongue and food. Taste buds are smaller structures, tucked away in the folds between papillae. Every taste bud is made up of basal and supporting cells that help maintain about 50 gustatory receptor cells. These specialized receptors are stimulated by the chemical makeup of solutions. They respond to several primary tastes: sweet, salty, bitter, sour, umami (savory) and fat, which some scientists claim might be a sixth taste. When a stimulus activates a gustatory cell, the receptor will synapse with neurons and send an electrical impulse to the gustatory region of the cerebral cortex. The brain interprets the sensation as taste.
Each gustatory receptor cell has a long, spindlelike protrusion called a gustatory hair that comes into contact with the outside environment. The hair extends from a small opening, or taste pore, and mingles with molecules of food introduced by saliva. The saliva solution contains digestive enzymes that help break down foods chemically. Saliva is secreted by three major salivary glands -- the parotidsubmandibularand sublingual glands -- as well as other small salivary glands contained within the tongue and mouth.
Aside from the tongue's ability to detect gustatory stimuli, it also perceives temperature and the complex tactile sensations that food scientists call mouth feel. The tongue, along with the rest of the mouth, helps determine a food's texture, oiliness, chewiness, viscosity and density.
In the next section, we'll learn about how the tongue functions in speech.

a, Taste buds (left) are composed of 50–150 TRCs (depending on the species), distributed across different papillae. Circumvallate papillae are found at the very back of the tongue and contain hundreds (mice) to thousands (human) of taste buds. Foliate papillae are present at the posterior lateral edge of the tongue and contain a dozen to hundreds of taste buds. Fungiform papillae contain one or a few taste buds and are found in the anterior two-thirds of the tongue. TRCs project microvillae to the apical surface of the taste bud, where they form the 'taste pore'; this is the site of interaction with tastants. b, Recent molecular and functional data have revealed that, contrary to popular belief, there is no tongue 'map': responsiveness to the five basic modalities — bitter, sour, sweet, salty and umami — is present in all areas of the tongue6, 8, 9, 32,78.

About Facebook Advertising

Facebook makes money by showing you relevant ads. Here’s an example to show you how it works

A business creates an ad

Let’s say a gym opens in your neighborhood. The owner creates an ad to get people to come in for a free workout.

Facebook gets paid to deliver the ad

The owner sends the ad to Facebook and describes who should see it: people who live nearby and like running.

The right people see the ad

Facebook only shows you the ad if you live in town and like to run. That’s how advertisers reach you without knowing who you are.

Ads help keep Facebook free

From the beginning, the people who built Facebook wanted it to be free for everyone. It now costs over a billion dollars a year to run Facebook, and delivering ads is how Facebook pays for this.

You can impact the ads you see

Unlike ads on television, you can influence which ads you see on Facebook. Spot something that doesn’t interest you? Click the X and it’s gone.

Facebook makes money by showing you relevant ads. Here’s an example to show you how it works>>>Link: About Facebook Advertising!

Top Questions

You’ve probably heard some theories about how Facebook makes money. Here are the facts:

Is it true that Facebook sells my name and contact info to make money?

No. Facebook does not sell your personal information. Instead, Facebook makes its money from showing you ads.
Selling your information would actually be bad for Facebook. Here’s why: Facebook was created to help you share and connect with the people in your life. If you don’t feel like you’re in control of who sees what you share, you probably won’t use Facebook as much, and you’ll share less with your friends. Not only is that bad for Facebook, it’s also bad for you. That’s why only the people you choose to share with see your stuff.

What’s the difference between ads and sponsored stories?

Ads and sponsored stories are types of sponsored content on Facebook:

1. Ads

A business creates an ad and pays Facebook to deliver it to the people who are most likely to find it useful. For example, you might see an ad for a local gym if you live nearby, are a certain age and like running. Learn more about ads.

2. Sponsored Stories

A sponsored story is different from an ad because it’s a story you can already see about activity from people you’re connected to, Pages you like or apps you use. A business pays to sponsor these regular stories to increase the chances that you’ll notice it. Learn more about sponsored stories.

I never click on ads, so why do businesses pay Facebook to show them?

Businesses want to get their message in front of the right people. They pay Facebook to deliver ads to people who might be interested – whether or not those people click on the ads. To see how businesses purchase ads, check out the ad creation tool.

Does Facebook use my name or photo in ads?

Posts or activity that include your profile photo or name – like a story about you liking Starbucks – may be paired with an ad or highlighted in a sponsored story. Your name and photo will only appear to people you shared the original story with.
Learn more about ads and privacy.

I don’t want to see ads on Facebook. Can I shut them off?

No, but you can influence the ads you see (see below).

How do I influence the ads I see?

Ads are designed to be useful, and not disrupt your experience on Facebook. There are a few ways to impact the Facebook ads you see:
  • See more of your favorites. Click or like your favorite ads to see more ads like those. You can also add more of your interests to your timeline (profile) to see ads that better reflect what you’re into.
  • See less of what you don’t like. Spot an ad you’re not interested in? Click the X and it’s gone. Facebook will try not to show you similar ads again. You can also report any ad that offends you.
Check out your Ads Board to see the types of Facebook ads you personally might see.

Want to learn how to make money the easy way?… Here is a simple way to make around $10 a day (or more depending on how much time and effort you put into it):

1. Register with CashCrate for free (Open link in a new window)

Simply click on this link and register for free. I don’t have to tell you this, but make sure to check your email for confirmation link to confirm your account.

2. Pick offers

Login to your dashboard and you will see a list of offers. Use the “Show” box (on the right side) to choose what kind of offer you want to see; either 100% free or trial offers. Then use the “Sort” box to see offers first based on “rating”, “popularity”, “payout” and so on.

3. Do offers

Pick an offer and click on it. It will open in a new window where you can complete the offer. Make sure after you complete the offer, go back to your dashboard and click the “submit” button for the offer you just completed. You have to do this, other wise you won’t get credited for the offer.

4. Wait for your account to get credited for the offer

Some offers get credited instantly, some take a few hours and some may take a few days. When the offer has cleared, your account will be credited for that offer.

5. Cash your check!

It’s as simple as requesting your check and cashing it when it arrives!

Some offers may require you to put in your email address, whcih they may use to send you promotional and especial offers. If you don’t want to deal with that, simply get a new email address and use it just for completing offers

4. Free Trials pay a lot more

Trial offers usually pay a lot more than the free offers. Some trials pay as much as $50! The good thing is, if you dont like the trial and dont want to go through with it, you can cancel the trial before the 30 day period. That way, you won’t be charged a single penny.

5. Refer other people and earn more money

Use your referral links to refer your family and friends. Not only your friends can make some extra money, you also get a percentage of what they earn. It won’t come out of their earnings or anything like that, its just a way for the site to show appreciation since you introduced more people to the site.

Make Money While You Sleep ! Part(6)

Grow your Online Business with DoubleClick for Publishers

As an AdSense publisher, you know that the ad revenue you’re earning from your site is important to maintaining and growing your online business. In addition to AdSense, are you also using other ad networks on your pages or selling some of your ad space directly to specific
advertisers?

If so, you may have found that it can be time-consuming to determine and manage when and where your ads should show, in order for you to earn the most money possible. And if an advertiser has very specific requirements for their campaigns — such as only appearing during a certain time of day or only to users located in a certain country — it can be challenging to fulfill these types of requests.

Grow your Online Business with DoubleClick for Publishers

That’s where an ad server like DoubleClick for Publishers (DFP) Small Business can help. An ad server helps you deliver ads to your pages, allowing you to manage ads from AdSense, multiple ad networks, and directly sold ads.
